Another masked man returns in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the latest in the long-running horror series.

A sequel to the original 1974 film, this entry sees a group of entrepreneurial young people travel to the deserted town by Leatherface’s home looking to develop it. While exploring, they encounter the survivor of the original killing spree, Sally, who has remained to stop him should he ever re-emerge. The new young people, of course, prove to be the perfect trigger for Leatherface, and the battle, and the murders, begin again.

With nearly 50 years passed since the original film, many of the people who started the legendary series are no longer available to continue the story. Taking up the director mantle is David Blue Garcia, who directed the thriller Tejano, with a story by Rodo Sayagues and Fede Alvarez (the guys behind Don’t Breathe).

In front of the camera the main lamb leading everyone to the slaughter seems to be played by Sarah Yarkin. Will she be the final girl this time around? Not a bad bet. The rest of the flock is played by Elsie Fisher (yep, the Eighth Grade girl), Nell Hudson, and Jacob Latimore.

Original Sally and Leatherface actors Marilyn Burns and Gunnar Hansen have sadly passed away, so taking over the parts are Olwen Fouéré and Mark Burnham, respectively. Like everyone involved in this iteration, they have a lot to live up to, mostly a lot of blood.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is directed by David Blue Garcia and stars Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Nell Hudson, and Jacob Latimore. It will be released worldwide on Netflix February 18th, 2022.
