WANDER DARKLY Trailer

A couple gets lost in Wander Darkly, the latest from writer/director Tara Miele.

Adrienne and Matteo were in a tough spot. A rocky point in their relationship and a new baby had them both frayed at the edges, so when they’re involved in a severe car crash, they are understandably thrown off course. Finding themselves adrift in a new reality, one that weaves from past to present, they must reconcile with their past in order to find a way forward.

The trailer isn’t at all clear about what precisely is going on here. Has someone died? Is any of this real? Does that even matter? It’s a tough subject with a meandering approach that makes it even tougher to pull off for Miele, who has a variety of smaller movies under her belt but nothing like this. It’s an ambitious step forward, one that, per those who saw it during its brief festival run, has some big upsides.

The ambition of it is certainly advantageous for its two leads, Sienna Miller and Diego Luna. An encompassing look at a relationship, with all the highs and lows that entails, gives them a lot to work with, and they almost always shine when given the opportunity.

This looks to be a challenging film, but one that just might have a big reward for your investment.

Wander Darkly is directed by Tara Miele and stars Sienna Miller and Diego Luna. It will be released in the US on VOD on December 11th, 2020. Further release dates are not currently known.
