Dr Sun Yat-sen’s Former Residence in Huangpu Qu, China
Dr. Sun Yat-sen was at the forefront of the Chinese democratic revolution. He was the founder of the Republic of China and is a much-respected contributor to Chinese modern history. Sun Yat-sen was a key figure in organizing the revolution against the Qing Empire in the 20th-century. He became the temporary leader of the country when the Qing was finally overthrown in 1912.
The home of the former revolutionary was a key stronghold for organizing activities, meetings, and writing treatises during and after the revolution until 1924. The former residence is often referred to as the birthplace of modern China.
In the living room and halls, visitors will find hundreds of books and military regalia. There is even a version of one of the suits designed by Yat-sen himself. He lived here with his wife, Soong Ching-ling for six years. Next door to the house, visitors will find a three-story museum that chronicles more of this historic period in the history of China.
