CRISIS Trailer

Opioids lead to all sorts of problems in Crisis, the latest from writer/director Nicholas Jarecki.

Three plotlines weave together in this sprawling story. First, when a smuggler is intercepted an emergency transport of Fentanyl must be arranged to keep the illegal market going. Second, a mother tries desperately to find her missing son after he’s caught up in the illegal trade. And lastly, a whistleblower emerges to take down a supposedly safe new painkiller. Each story examines a different aspect of the opioid crisis, and much like the real world, none paint a rosy picture of where we are or where we’re headed.

Digging into the intricacies of a nasty business is something Jarecki seems drawn to. His previous film, Arbitrage, took place among the wealthy and shady world of hedge fund managers. The opioid crisis has led to a similarly well-funded and well-connected industry (legal and illegal) just waiting for Jarecki to tear apart.

He’s got a hell of a cast to do it with, too. The three storylines seem to center on Gary Oldman, Armie Hammer, and Evangeline Lilly, with the likes of Greg Kinnear, Michelle Rodriguez, and Indira Varma filling out their worlds.

With such a stellar cast and hot-button issue at its core, Crisis will likely draw a lot of attention upon release.

Crisis is directed by Nicholas Jarecki and stars Gary Oldman, Armie Hammer, and Evangeline Lilly. It will be released in the US theatrically on February 26th and on VOD March 5th. For international release dates, click here.
