VANQUISH Trailer

A woman’s past comes back to bite her in Vanquish, the latest from co-writer/director George Gallo.

Victoria used to lead a tough life. As a drug courier in Russia, she was involved in her fair share of scrapes, shootouts, and close calls, but she made it through. Now with a daughter to look after she leads a quiet life as a caretaker to a former police commissioner, keeping her head low and out of trouble. But he turns out to be crooked, and in forcing her into a one-night mission, the troubles of her old life threaten to catch up to her.

Crime thrillers like this are familiar territory for Gallo, who has writing credits on the Bad Boys franchise and has been directing similar movies like The Poison Rose and The Comeback Trail. He seems to have a certain style: simple genre pieces, good casts, relatively low budgets.

All of that is ticked off with Vanquished, including bringing back Morgan Freeman (who appeared in the two previously mentioned movies) as the retired cop and getting Ruby Rose as the former drug courier.

Everyone involved is quite comfortable with the kind of movie being offered here, and with what seems like a winning setup, it’s hard to imagine this can go wrong.

Vanquish is directed by George Gallo and stars Ruby Rose and Morgan Freeman. It will be released in the US on April 16th, 2021. Further release dates are not currently known.
