THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW Trailer

A woman goes through the relatable experience of losing it inside her home in The Woman in the Window, the latest from director Joe Wright.

Anna wasn’t looking for trouble. In fact, she was doing quite the opposite, never leaving her New York apartment due to agoraphobia. Despite this, she manages to befriend a neighbor, who she one day sees being attacked. Her frantic call to the police unravels what’s left of her world, as people claim the woman she befriended doesn’t exist and that all her accusations are due to side effects from her medication. She’s not buying it, though, and does everything she can to prove that something serious has happened.

The wronged woman thriller is a cinema staple, but you can expect this to be an elegant entry thanks to Wright. The Atonement and Darkest Hour director is known for his sumptuous visuals, and when he dipped into the genre before with Hanna he delivered a stylish delight. So while The Woman in the Window sounds familiar, Wright is the kind of guy who can push it to grand heights.

Also capable of making this something special is Amy Adams, who stars as the agoraphobic Anna. She, too, has elevated genre fare in the past (where’s my fellow Sharp Objects fans?), as have many of the stellar supporting cast, which includes Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Julianne Moore, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Look, this is a stacked team for a psychological thriller, and it’s being delivered straight to your home via Netflix. Just sit back and enjoy.

The Woman in the Window is directed by Joe Wright and stars Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie. It will be released on Netflix worldwide on May 14th, 2021.
