FREE GUY Trailer

A game will be turned on its head in Free Guy, the latest from director Shawn Levy.

Guy was pretty content with his life. He had an okay job, spent time with his best friend, and mostly avoided the gruesome mayhem surrounding him. That is until he encountered a woman he couldn’t let slip by, so he chased her across the dangerous city. Once he got her, though, his world only became more strange, as she revealed that he exists within a video game and isn’t supposed to have the sentience he is suddenly experiencing. With the game’s programmers trying to shut him down, he must somehow fight from within for his world to continue.

The premise gives Levy plenty of opportunities for zany fun since everything in the game is just a big imagination trip. That should be a comfortable fit for him having helmed other goofy adventures like the Night at the Museum movies and a whole raft of other films like this.

Also fitting right in with this movie’s tone is Ryan Reynolds, whose ability to do lovably violent characters should be a perfect fit for Guy. Co-starring with him is Jodie Comer as his real-life ally and Taika Waititi as the guy trying to shut down the game.

It’s a good team for a lighthearted adventure, and I don’t know about you, but that’s kind of what I need right now.

Free Guy is directed by Shawn Levy and stars Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, and Taika Waititi. It is scheduled to be released in the US and the UK on December 11th, 2020. To stay up to date with its release schedule, click here.
