MONDAY Trailer

Find out if a fling can last past the weekend in Monday, the latest from co-writer/director Argyris Papadimitropoulos.

Mickey and Chloe had a wild first night, which turned into a wild weekend. Sparks just flew, and not wanting to let go of whatever they found they decided to keep it going. It’s hard to replicate those first few days, though. The rush and the freedom and the lack of history weighing them down is unique to the early parts of a relationship, and transitioning into something more long-term comes with obstacles that could jeopardize everything.

This examination of relationships gives Papadimitropoulos plenty to dig into and has him returning to familiar territory as his previous film, 2016’s Suntan. That movie paired a middle-aged man with a much younger love interest (and her group of partying friends), which seems to share the spur-of-the-moment style of this film, at least in its early going. Monday, quite pointedly, will let things progress farther, which seems like a natural next step.

Papadimitropoulos is also working with a bigger star than ever in Sebastian Stan, who has been making consistently interesting choices when he steps away from the MCU. Paired with him here is Denise Gough, who has her own impressive array of films under her belt. Those two should be able to make this relationship come alive, even if it burns out fast.

Monday is directed by Argyris Papadimitropoulos and stars Sebastian Stan, Denise Gough, and Dominique Tipper. It will be released in the US on April 16th, 2021. Further release dates are not currently known.
